Control Resonant Patch 1.4.0 & Hotfix 1.4.1 — New Game++ & QoL (Oct 1–2)

FAQ

What did Control Resonant patch 1.4.0 add?
New Game++ with an infinite number of runs, a Build Power readout on the Loadout screen, a 10–15% combat-intensity reduction in The Unknown, a Power Core Charge Duration slider in Assist Mode, and a long list of quality-of-life and stability fixes.
What is New Game++ in Control Resonant?
The loop that patch 1.4.0 adds on top of New Game Plus — you can now keep rolling into additional runs indefinitely, per Remedy's October 1 patch notes.
Did patch 1.4.0 make the game easier?
Not globally — the only balance change is a 10–15% reduction in overall combat and intensity in The Unknown (the game's seventh zone). Everything else is quality-of-life, accessibility, and fixes.
What did hotfix 1.4.1 fix?
Two issues 1.4.0 introduced: The Park Resonant quest could not progress because eating the Mold (a required step) became impossible, and Dash canceled while using Elevate because dash momentum stopped carrying into Surge. Both were fixed on October 2, 2026.

What shipped in Game Update 1.4.0?

Remedy rolled out Game Update 1.4.0 on October 1, 2026, one week after launch, describing the game’s launch-window stability as strong and framing this patch as polish: “many bug fixes for problems you likely never saw,” plus a meaningful quality-of-life wave. It follows the day-one hotfix 1.3.3 and is the first update to add a whole new progression feature rather than just tuning.

What is New Game++ — and how does it differ from New Game Plus?

Patch 1.4.0 turns the endgame loop into an infinite ladder. On top of New Game Plus, 1.4.0’s headline feature — New Game++ — lets you keep carrying your build into further runs with no stated limit: per the patch notes, “you can now play an infinite number of runs of CONTROL Resonant in New Game++.” No new trophies or exclusive rewards were announced for NG++ loops, so the platinum path is unchanged.

Which quality-of-life changes shipped in 1.4.0?

The highlights, per Remedy’s notes:

  • Build Power on the Loadout screen — your Power level now sits in the bottom-left of the Loadout screen instead of being buried in the Stats & Effects menu; the notes reiterate that fighting enemies above your level is meant to hurt, so side quests and exploration remain the answer
  • The Gap purchase notifications — a HUD icon appears when you have new things to buy or upgrade at the vendor
  • Pinned-material vendor check — pin materials you need and the Map’s vendor icon now shows whether they’re in stock, without walking over
  • Radio-dialogue volume slider — a separate slider for radio dialogue, balancing speakers/headphones against the DualSense controller speaker
  • Mute copyrighted music — an option to turn off Apocalyptica’s “Upperhand” intro credits song
  • Razer haptics support — gameplay events such as melee hits and damage trigger effects on Razer peripherals
  • A Rush ability tutorial covering its status-effect removal, map-marker fixes, subtitle and VO fixes, HDR highlight fixes in the AgX tonemapper, and PC performance work targeting minimum and recommended specs (see the PC requirements)

Did 1.4.0 change difficulty or combat balance?

Only in one place: The Unknown — the seventh zone — had its overall amount of combat and intensity decreased by 10–15%. Every other zone’s balance is untouched. Separately, Assist Mode gained a new option: Power Core Charge Duration, a 100–300% multiplier on how long Power Core charges last, joining the existing sliders — and like them it never disables trophies.

What did 1.4.0 fix?

Beyond the highlights: a VFX issue that could drop the framerate during the Artist Resonant’s special attack, map markers that stuck around too long or sat in the wrong place, over-saturated HDR highlights, and a large batch of subtitle and voice-over corrections. Remedy also points PC players on AMD GPUs to the optional 26.9.2 driver, which improves performance and fixes several crashes.

Hotfix 1.4.1 — the day-after fixes (October 2)

1.4.0 carried thousands of changes, and it broke two of them. Hotfix 1.4.1 shipped October 2, 2026 to put both right, per Remedy’s notes:

  • The Park Resonant quest blocker — eating the Mold, a required quest step, became impossible after 1.4.0, halting progression through the side quest for affected players.
  • Dash canceling during Elevate — a 1.4.0 movement fix inadvertently broke dash momentum carrying over into Surge; the hotfix restores it.

Nothing else changed — no balance tweaks and no new features ride the hotfix, so every 1.4.0 guide on this wiki still applies as-is.
